Project Elec-Tricks: Believing in experimental  learning

Welcome to Project Elec-Tricks, a community service initiative dedicated to inspiring young minds through hands-on experimentation. Our mission is simple: to ignite a passion for problem-solving and foster a love for science and electronics among underprivileged students. Through interactive workshops and innovative electronics kits, we aim to create a positive impact on these young lives, showing them that science is not only fascinating but also a gateway to a brighter future.

Project Elec-Tricks began as a vision to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged children. Believing in the power of experiential learning, we set out to introduce these young minds to the wonders of electronics and its practical applications. Our first step was to design a starter electronics kit, carefully crafted with all the necessary components and a comprehensive manual. This kit formed the basis of our interactive workshops.

To ensure that our initiative reached those who needed it the most, we collaborated with 4 NGOs including a local NGO, Kilkari, to conduct these workshops in underprivileged communities. The response we received was overwhelming, as the kids were eager to participate and discover the world of electronics. Witnessing their excitement and curiosity motivated us to expand our project further.

Our Journey

The Experience

The workshop experience was nothing short of magical. As the organizer, seeing the children's faces light up with awe and wonder as they watched their first LED light glow was incredibly rewarding. The simple act of connecting a solar panel and witnessing its ability to generate electricity left them astonished, and their newfound enthusiasm was contagious.

For many of these children, science had been reduced to rote learning and mundane textbooks. However, through our workshops, they experienced science come alive, and they could tangibly see its impact. This transformation was truly heartening. Their excitement didn't end in the workshop; they carried it home and proudly demonstrated their newfound knowledge to their parents. The workshops not only instilled a sense of accomplishment in the children but also became a beacon of hope for their families.

Perhaps the most gratifying outcome of Project Elec-Tricks was the shift in attitude towards science. Prior to the workshops, several kids admitted to disliking science due to the monotonous way it was taught. However, after experiencing the joy of learning through experimentation, many of them had a change of heart. This shift in perception led some of the children to pursue the science stream in their 11th grade, fueled by the hope of a brighter future and a genuine interest in exploring the subject further.

As advocates of sustainable practices, we incorporated green energy concepts into our workshops. By introducing solar panels and showcasing their functionality, we not only exposed the children to renewable energy sources but also instilled in them a sense of environmental responsibility. Through Project Elec-Tricks, they learned how technology and innovation can play a crucial role in building a sustainable future for themselves and the planet.
